I have been using this lure mixture and it has worked for me.
1oz. Bobcat Musk 1oz. Bobcat Glands (Aged) 1oz. Beaver Castor (Ground) 1/4oz. Skunk Essence 1/4oz. Asafoetida Tincture 1/4oz. Ambrette Musk Oil 1/4oz. Catnip Oil
What would you change (take away or add) and why?

Hello, What is Bobcat musk? I think 1/2 oz of skunk essence would be overwelming.

Bobcat Musk is a blend of urine, musk, and glandular secretions. The skunk essence I have is in a petroleum base and I use a table spoon or so. More like a 1/4 of a oz.

Sounds like it might work. It would need to be tested in the field. Did you catch any of those cats pictured on this formula?

I think I will cut back on the skunk. Most of the cats I catch are on bobcat gland, urine and skunk. I have had good luck on some stuff called cat puddy. I want to make my own stuff so I know whats in it but I am having a hard time learning about all the ingredients. Whats to much, what is best, more of something. Thanks for any help.

I don't think you need the asafoetida and cut back on your skunk and catnip and you'll have a good lure. All those ingredients (except for possibly the asafoetida) are known cat draws. I would also add some glycerine to help anti-freeze your formulation; about 20% by volume should do it.

This helps a bunch. Ill cut back on the cat nip and skunk and save the asafoetida for the k9s.

Can I get Glycerine at a local store? And what would be a good fish oil that I can get?

You can get glycerin at most drug stores; you can also get small quantities of cod liver oil (fish oil) at most drug stores. Or, you can by fish oil and glycerin from a trapping supply dealer. If you buy from a trapping supply dealer pressed salmon oil is a good fish oil in formulation.

asafoetida can be used in cat, mink and otter lures but in small amounts.also
asafoetida works as a passion ingredent in canine lures just like lovage oil will.
note DO NOT MIX asafoetida with lovage oil because they both work seperate as a passion ingredent meaning two different ingredents when used seperate gives you two different passion lures.
